Moreton Bay Swim 2026

Join us for the 7th Moreton Bay Swim, Greater Brisbane’s only ocean swim, coming in 2026! Organized by SSG MultiSports, this iconic event at Suttons Beach, Redcliffe, offers stunning coastal views and a vibrant community vibe. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or a first-timer, choose from 4km, 2km, or 1km distances, plus a family-friendly inflatable race. Stay tuned for the exact date and details!

Event Details

Based on our 2025 event, expect these swim options (subject to change):

4km Swim: Brief at 7:15 AM, beach start at 7:30 AM. Two waves (women: race numbers 401–500; men: 501–600), 5-minute gap. Minimum age: 16. Time limit: 2.5 hours.
2km Swim: Brief at 7:50 AM, beach start at 8:00 AM. Two waves (women: 201–300; men: 301–400). Minimum age: 14. Time limit: 1.5 hours.
1km Swim: Brief at 8:20 AM, beach start at 8:30 AM. Two waves (women: 01–100; men: 101–199). Minimum age: 14. Time limit: 1 hour.
Inflatable Race: Family-friendly fun to close the day.

Safety First

Safety is our top priority, with Redcliffe Peninsula Surf Life Saving lifeguards patrolling via IRBs, jet skis, and rescue boards. Key rules include:

Mandatory swim cap and pre-race briefing attendance.
No speed/buoyancy aids (except wetsuits); goggles, nose clips, and earplugs allowed.
Signal for help by raising one arm or rolling onto your back.
Follow the prescribed course to avoid disqualification.
Weather-related changes communicated promptly.

Swimmers assume ocean swimming risks and should be physically prepared. Lifeguards may remove participants if safety is compromised.

Event History

From 9 SSG swimmers in 2020 to 400 in 2022 and 300 in 2025, the Moreton Bay Swim has grown into a community favorite. Previously called the Australia Day Swim and Pavilion Swim, it’s now a hallmark event, supported by Moreton Bay City Council and sponsors like TheMagic5, FlipMits, and Funky Trunks.
