A Word From The President: March 2026
This letter from our President, Jodie Brighton, first appeared in the March 2026 edition of the SSG Multisports newsletter.
Over the past month we have seen fantastic growth across the SSG community, both in our Sunday swims and in our Triathlon Australia memberships. It has been wonderful to welcome so many new faces to the group, and we thank everyone who has joined us.
This month we also took the opportunity to celebrate the amazing women in our club for International Women's Day. It was wonderful to recognise the strength, dedication and friendships that our female members bring to SSG.
Coach Paul led a fantastic session that included swim buoy practice, transition tips and a brick session. It was a really informative morning and a great chance for our triathletes to come together, learn and share the experience as a group.
In the water we would also like to thank Brett Jackson (Jacko), who has been helping lead swimmers to Glasshouse and the Boat Ramp, along with our resident Vortex crew. Your support and leadership in the water make a huge difference and help many swimmers push themselves just a little further.
Out on the race circuit, our triathletes have been busy competing in events such as the QTS Series, Hell of the West and the Mooloolaba Triathlon. It has been fantastic to see a number of first- and second-time triathletes out on course giving it a go. Watching our members step up and challenge themselves is always something special.
We saw a crew head to the Noosa Swim, where our swimmers enjoyed the fantastic conditions and perhaps did a little research for our next Moreton Bay Swim.
At Ironman New Zealand, we saw Jeremy Dwyer and Margaret Wedge officially become IRONMAN finishers. What an incredible achievement and an inspiration to our entire community.
Our new tri kits, cycling gear, club shirts and run singlets have also arrived, and who's obsessed with the pink edition? It has been fantastic to see so many members proudly wearing the SSG kit around the peninsula and at races.
This weekend we are also excited to see a strong SSG crew heading to the very first T100 event in Australia on the Gold Coast, with 20 athletes racing the T100 and Olympic distances.
I would also like to take a moment to wish Coach Paul Skelton all the very best as he prepares for his next adventure, the Marathon des Sables. This is an incredible challenge and we are all cheering him on.
Finally, I want to thank our SSG community for the way you continue to support one another. We all have our own battles, injuries, illness, recovery from surgery or simply the challenges of balancing life and training. But together we continue to show that we are stronger as a community.

Jodie
SSG President
