Race Report: Jacko at the Noosa World Series Swim
This race report first appeared in the March 2026 edition of the SSG Multisports newsletter.
Any open water swim, regardless of the distance, requires preparation and training. A 5km swim, even for experienced swimmers, is still a long way. There’s a big difference between simply covering the distance and actually racing it. On the day, I was fit enough to complete the swim, but I didn’t quite have the training behind me to really race the distance the way I would have liked. The longer events are always ones I enjoy, and the conditions at Noosa were close to perfect, which made for a great morning in the water. I always love swimming with other swimmers who love the ocean. There’s something special about sharing the water with people who appreciate it the same way. I often think that the ocean actually wants me there. It was great to catch up with the community of swimmers who were racing on the day, and congratulations to everyone from SSG who entered and took on the challenge. Next stop is Mooloolaba, so hopefully by then I’ll have a bit more training behind me and be a little more race-fit.
