The Sunshine Coast Marathon, held on August 3, 2025, was a triumphant day for SSG
Multisports, with members shining across multiple distances. Set along Queensland’s
picturesque Sunshine Coast, this renowned event drew runners nationwide. SSG’s
participation showcased our club’s passion for running and community spirit.
The festival offered races for all: the EVA Air Marathon (42.2km), McDonald’s Half Marathon
(21.1km), Westpac 10km Run, Cricks 5km Run, and RMHC Mini Marathon (2km). SSG
members tackled the scenic Twin Waters and Mudjimba course—a fast, flat route framed by
bushland and ocean views—with grit and excitement. Local cheers fueled every step.
Here’s what our members had to say:
Martin Schett (Full Marathon): "Sunny Coast marathon run. Beautiful day after a Short spit
at the start. Legs recovered just in time after pacing the Jetty 2Jetty marathon 2 weeks ago.
Was not sure how I would go but was hoping for the best. With lots of help from my wonder
Physio Jan Wanklyn and a few magnesium baths I had a great run on a perfect day on the
beautiful coast. Got it done in 3.11 hours."
Conor Burton (Half Marathon): "Today’s Sunshine Coast half marathon was supposed to be
a trial hit out prepping for a race later on. But with some decent progress in training from
Christy’s run coaching we decided I should have a red hot poke and see what happens.
Stoked is what happened. I PB’d by over 10 minutes… Thank you Christy and Danielle for all
the prep work."
Nat Russell (Half Marathon): "I’m incredibly happy with how everything went today — I ran
to plan and achieved what I set out to do: a sub-2 half marathon in freezing conditions… and
I did it! 1:58:27, 5th in my age group out of 29 women. This result means a lot… A huge thank you to my amazing friend Alison Duncan."
Jodi Dwyer (Half Marathon): "Surprised myself with a 2hr 9min finish time for my first half!
And yes it was freezing but awesome company! Suffering now though thanks Jez Michael
for the motivation and inspiration and Vienne Kite Macauley Kite for being the best cheer-squad."
